One of the main skills I have been sharpening over the last few months is learning how to effectively set goals and develop a plan to accomplish those goals; however, I’ve mostly been thinking short term.
Today I took some time and curated a list of things I want to accomplish by the time I reach 30 years old, giving me just under 7 years to accomplish everything on this “bucket list”:
- Firmly establish a role that I am passionate about in a thriving company
- Travel to all 50 U.S states
- Stand in the Sistine Chapel
- Learn to speak a second language fluently
- Attend both a Summer/Winter Olympics
- Get married
- Start a family
- Visit every continent (maybe not Antarctica)
- Buy my first home
- Take at least a month-long trip through Europe
- Finish reading the A Song of Ice and Fire Series (don’t let me down George)
- Skydive
- Attend a Kentucky Derby
- Move to and live in a city where I don’t know anyone
- See Hamilton on Broadway
- Attend a Wimbledon Final
- Finish my degree.. in something
- Get a dog
- Walk on the Great Wall of China
- Watch Karl-Anthony Towns lift an NBA finals trophy (please for the love of god KAT make this happen)
- Be completely debt-free
- Scuba Dive at a coral reef
- Ride in a hot air balloon
- Hug a Redwood tree
- Travel to Mordor (New Zealand)
- Write and publish a book
- Learn to play the guitar
- Run a marathon
- Give a speech or talk in front of a sizable audience
- Be fully content with the life I live
I’ll be the first to admit this list is ambitious – but I would rather aim high and fall short than any alternative. Whether or not I get to everything on this list isn’t a life or death matter, what matters is that I adopt a mentality where I strive to make a difference in the lives of the people around me every day.
